We went to Cumberland Island to shoot an episode of I Know Jax. The story about Cumberland Island is going to air in the Hit the Road Jax segment of the TV show. The video is showcasing the beautiful nature of Cumberland Island with its live oaks and vast, sandy beaches.
Cumberland Island provides important habitat for a number of important species including shore birds such as American Oyster catchers, Least Terns, and Wilson’s Plovers. The island is an important stopover point for migrating birds on the transatlantic migratory flyway. It’s also famous for its wild horses.
Cumberland Island contains four major historic districts and 87 structures listed on the National Register of Historic Places and Plum Orchard is one of those places. We had the opportunity to walk inside beautiful Plum Orchard for a closer look. It is a fascinating reminder of how life on Cumberland Island used to be.
For more watch I Know Jax on CW 17 on Saturday at 11 pm.
