The First Wednesday Art Walk is a monthly, recurring event in downtown Jacksonville. Every art walk has a different theme and it’s a great time to visit the downtown area with friends and family. Lots of different type of venues participate in the art walk. Temporary art galleries move into retail spaces, office spaces, public buildings downtown and more.
The art walk is a self-guided tour. You can pick up a map at Hemming Plaza or at MOCA. The museum is free during the Art Walk, so this area is the central hub of the event. Parking downtown is free after 6 pm in most places too. Expect lots of foot traffic and lots of fun. If you haven’t been to art walk before, you really need to go once. It’s a great way to start the evening, and there are lots of bars and restaurants downtown where you can rest your feet when you get tired.
