Rocky Horror

Friday, Sept 2, 2011: We just received information that the Rocky Horror Screening and Street Festival has been cancelled for 2011.

Check out the Rocky Horror screening at UNF for 2011 here

The cult classic movie , Rocky Horror Picture Show, will be showing at The Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts, Moran Theater on Friday, October 21, 2011  at midnight. This is a screening of the cult classic film — THE Rocky revival — complete with shadowcasting by The Rich Weirdos, dialog call-outs and audience participation with props! Without doubt, this screening is an experience.

Before the movie screening,  there is a colorful and exciting street festival with lots of fun  including  a costume contest, food, beverages and more.

Rocky HorrorRocky Horror Street Festival

The Rocky Horror Street Festival kicks off at 8 p.m. on the Northbank Riverfront behind the Times-Union Center. Step out as your favorite Rocky character, show your Time Warp moves and bring your props to participate!

  • Rocky Horror Costume Contest for ticketholders at 11 p.m.
  • Live entertainment
  • Food vendors, beverages and fun!
The  movie is  a rock musical – not even close to a horror flick.  The movie actually bombed but was later  revived as an audience participation movie and that’s where it continues to gain in popularity.
Audience participation means that the crowd participate by yelling lines out loud, dressing up in costumes and throwing props during the movies.

Movie goers are encouraged to bring props and play.  Accepted props include rice; newspapers; water pistols; flashlights and glow sticks; rubber gloves; noisemakers, confetti, toilet paper, toast, party hats, bells or keys; and cards. Prohibited items include candles, lighters and other open flames. Prop packages will also be sold.
